बूटिंग प्रोसेस और डोस फाइल सिस्टम :

Booting process : Computer system मे सभी प्रकार कि processing उसकी primary memory मे ही होती हे। जबकि computer को operate  करने के लिए आवश्यक operating system इसकी secondary memory में store रहता है। इस operating system को process मे लाने के लिए इसकी सभी आवष्यक system file को primary memory में load करना आवष्यक हो जाता है। जब भी computer system को on किया जाता है।

तब उस system की सभी आवष्यक system file को secondary memory मे से primary memory मे पहुचाया जाता है। और इन files के run होते ही operating system use के लिए read हो जाता है। इस कारण एक निर्धारित processके माध्यम से computer में o.s.को जब computer कि secondary memory आरक्षित करता हैं जिसे Boot area या Boot sector कहा जाता है। o.s. इस memory space मे ही अपनी Booting के लिए आवष्यक सभी system files को store करके रखता हे।
जहां से यह files Booting process के दौरान आसानी से primary memory में पहुचा दी जाती है। इस प्रकार यह  कहा जा सकता है कि Booting process वह प्रक्रिया है, जिसमें o.s.स्वयं को एवं pc system को working के लिए तैयार करता है। अलग अलग प्रकार के OS कि Booting file अलग अलग होती है । यहा window एवं DOS operating system के लिए सामान्यतः एक समान file उपयोग मे लाई जाती है।
DOS system file – DOS कि मुख्य file कुछ विषेष कार्यो के लिए बनाई जाती है, जैसे booting process output एवं input के लिए operating system के महत्वपूर्ण Internet commands  को memory में store करने के लिए उपयोग मे लाई जाने वाली system files निम्न है-

io.sys & Ms.Dos .sys. :

  • यह दोनो Hidden files होती है, जो files की list देखने के दौरान दिखाई नही देती है।
  • इन files को प्रत्येंक disk  के Boot sector में store रखा जाता है।
  • जहा से यह file Booting process के समय ही computer की RAM में store हो जाती है।

command. com :

  • प्रत्येक OS का सबसे प्रमुख element उसका command interpreter होता है,
  • जो I/P मे दिए गए commands  एवं instruction को hardware के समझाने योग्य machine language में परिवर्तित करता है।
  • Ms-Dos में यह कार्य command.com  file के द्वारा किया जाता है। यहि file  dos के सभी internal commands को store करके रखती है।
  • command .com हि वह file होती है, जो user को o.s. से संपर्क स्थापित करने की सुविधा प्रदान करती है।

config.sys :

  • computer on करने के बाद boot होता है और Boot होने की अंतिम step में computer से सभी hardware को कार्य करने के लिए तैयार करता है।
  • computer system से connected सभी H/W एवं उसमें load किए गए अन्य सभी s/w कि आवष्यक information एक text  file में save की जाती है,
  • जिसे config.sys कहते है। config.sysfile में ऐसे सभी program एवं instruction  store रहते हे।
  • जो computer system से connected सभी H/W को work के लिए instruction  देते है।
  • यह file operating system कि सबसे मुख्य Boot directory में store रहती है।
  • DOS Boot होने के पष्चात सबसे पहले इसी file  को read करता है।

AutoEXEC.bat :

  • यह एक batch file होती है, जो dos मे स्वतः ही run हो जाती है।
  • यह file commands  एवं program का collection होती है।
  • Booting  process के पष्चात o.s.computer कि memory disk  पर Auto EXEC.bat file को search करता है और सर्वप्रथम इसे हि execute करवाता है।
  • यह एक batch file होती है, जिसमें DOS कि command एक program file के समान लिखे जाते है।
  • इस file में ऐसे सभी commands लिखे जाते है,
  • जो system on होने के बाद system run करवाने के लिए आवष्यक होते है।
  • प्रत्येक बार system on होने पर यह file  automatically execute होती है।
  • इस कारण से इसे Auto ExEC कहा जाता है।
